Ready and set to welcome Crusaders back DAY 2, Jan. 11, 2021!

Our amazing cleaning Cru have been working extra hard to get the halls, walls, windows, doors, desks and everything else inbetween all ship shape and ready to go for our Crusader re-entry on Monday, January 11(A re-entry message from our Division can be found below)! Administration extends a special thanks to Susan, Tammy, Rose, Penny, Daisy and Ian for all the work that was done over the holiday break and this week! Crusader families and our staff truly appreciate the efforts you have made to keep us all safe as we return to the Realm.

Crusader teachers have been busy preparing to welcome the Cru back to in-person teaching, and our support Cru are excited to once again work with students. Administration would like to recognize the hardwork and dedication shown by our teachers and educational assistants for the work they have done with our students who were engaged throughout the two weeks of online learning. They also wish to recognize our secretarial staff who fielded calls and made countless trips to the front doors to hand out supplies, homework, and more; our librarian for supplying books for those who continued to read; and our FSLW for supporting the Cru via calls during the two online weeks.

January 7, 2021

Today the Alberta government announced that all students will return to in-person learning, as planned, on January 11. Mandatory health measures will remain in effect across the province until at least January 21.

The decision to return to in-class learning is based on the latest evidence which shows that before the winter break, new case rates in schools plateaued and then dropped in December, once restrictions on social gatherings and group activities were in place.

“I want to recognize the effort of school staff, teachers and parents to follow health measures and help us keep classrooms safe for Alberta students. I’m confident this effort will continue and we’ll see a successful return to in-person learning to the benefit of all students.” Jason Kenney, Premier

“Schools play a critical role in supporting student learning as well as their emotional health and overall well-being. In September, the vast majority of parents chose in-person learning for their children during the pandemic and schools have been diligently following the extensive health measures in place. A return to school will provide our students with the familiar daily routine of learning in class and will restore some sense of normalcy for both students and families amidst these unusual times.” Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Education

Upon the return to in-person classes, all measures included in the St. Paul Education Scenario 1 Re-entry Plan will continue to be in effect. DON'T FORGET TO:

1. COMPLETE ALBERTA HEALTH'S DAILY CHECKLIST each day before sending your child to school.

2. STAY HOME WHEN SICK It is important for children to stay home when they have symptoms and to contact their school principal immediately if their child has tested positive for COVID-19. This will assist schools in determining close contacts as soon as possible.

Please refer to the Alberta Health Services Stay at Home Guidance for more information.

3. WEAR YOUR MASK The use of non-medical face masks continues to be mandatory for students in Grades 4-12.

4. REACH OUT FOR HELP AND SUPPORT We know that this is a very challenging time for many.

a. The following resources provide valuable information:

Helping During Tough Times

COVID-19 resources for Parents

Helping to cope with Coronavirus

Resources for Talking to Children about COVID-19

b. Additionally, the Alberta government has increased funding for mental health supports to help families navigate pandemic strain, including:

Expanding Kids Help Phone

Partnering with Jack.org to create a resource hub

Expanding access to the Mental Health Helpline 1-877-303-2642 (Toll free within Alberta) & Addiction Helpline 1-866-332-2322 (Toll free within Alberta)

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to keep our students and staff safe while in-person learning continues. We are excited for our students to return to school on Monday!
