November 10, 2021 - Remembrance Day at F.G. Miller

On November 10th F.G Miller held the Remembrance Day Ceremony to honour those who fought for our freedom. Mrs.Oracheski welcomed Crusaders to the 2021 Virtual Ceremony, then respectfully acknowledged that our school is situated on Treaty 6 Territory, traditional lands of First Nations and Métis peoples.
2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the Poppy as the official symbol of Remembrance in Canada. The Crusaders memorialize this anniversary by writing on individual poppies, the name of each veteran from Elk Point and area who served during World War l, World War ll, and the Korean War and Peace Time Service. There were Crusaders who had chosen to remember veterans who are a part of their family tree.
Mr.Katerynych and the Crusader Remembrance Choir sang "In Flanders Fields" while representatives from each grade and Staff placed a poppy of remembrance in the display case, "The Act of Remembrance" was then recited by Mr.Katerynych, a civilian Legion member. For two minutes the Realm stood in silence, then La Reveille proceeded to play. Afterwards, Miss Lexi Wirsta read the poem "We Shall Keep the Faith '' by Moina Michael. In closing Mrs.Oracheski thanked all those who contributed to the ceremony.
