Flags Lowered to Remember Lives Lost at Former Residential School in Saskatchewan

Flags at all St. Paul Education schools will be lowered once again to half mast to remember and commemorate the 751 unmarked graves on the grounds of a former Residential School in Saskatchewan.
We have long known of many unaccounted for children who never came home from residential schools, and this further serves as a grim and heartbreaking reminder of the injurious colonial practices in Canada’s history.
As we walk alongside the families of these children and the families of all the children impacted by residential schooling, we must all be committed and vigilant to the findings in the Truth and Reconciliation Report. As Canadians, we must all learn about the history and legacy of residential schooling, and as a Division, we reaffirm our commitment to teaching our students about the effects of residential schools.
The National Indian Residential School Crisis Line is available for former students and those affected. Emotional and crisis referral services can be accessed by calling the 24-hour support line: 1-866 925-4419.
