Basketball Season Highlights

Basketball season is now officially wrapped up and it was a successful one.

The Jr High teams both went to the SPAA championships on March 3rd & 4th. Both teams won their quarterfinal game with the boys beating Ashmont and the girls beating Mallaig. The next day both teams battled hard but lost out in the semi final of the SPAA tournament. Both teams saw considerable growth throughout the course of the year and should be proud with their end result. This is a result of the students hard work and the countless hours our Jr High basketball coaches put into the season. Thank you to Mr. Sauers, Mr Holliday, Ms. Jeffery and Luke Germain for the time and effort you put into our Jr High basketball teams this year, it is much appreciated by the students, parents and the school.

Our Sr. High boys had a rollercoaster of a season as they battled injuries and adversity all season long. They progressed throughout the year and had their best performance at the zone tournament. The boys went in ranked 6th and had to play the 3rd ranked Notre Dame team in the first game of the zone tournament in Lamont. They came out strong and battled hard all game. They went into the 4th quarter down 7 and in the end they were victorious, beating Notre Dame by 7, a huge accomplishment being the under dog. They went on to lose to a strong Kitscoty team in the semi final, and therefore ended up in the 3rd place game. Again the boys played hard but ended up losing by a couple baskets to finish 4th overall. The boys worked hard this season and the coaches put in a lot of time and effort and it showed with their play at the final tournament. Thank you to our coaches Mr. Lindquist and Landon Morin for all your time and effort. Lastly we would like to acknowledge the parents that help drive the boys to tournaments, this season wouldn't be possible without your help as well.
