Alberta Education Assurance Survey

Each year, the government shares surveys with students, parents and teachers to gather feedback on the quality of education provided by school authorities and their schools.
The 2021/22 school year is the second year of the Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) survey, replacing the former Accountability Pillar (AP) survey. To support transition to the Assurance Framework, this year’s survey will again include questions that measure both the required Alberta Education Assurance Measures (AEAMs) as well as the previous AP survey measures. Survey administration will begin in mid-February.
Student Surveys
Surveys for students will be completed online in the school setting. Paper copies are available as required.
Students in grades 4, 7 and 10 will be asked to complete the survey.
Small schools (fewer than 120 students in grades 4‐12) will administer the survey to all students in grades 4 and above.
Parent Surveys
Parents and guardians who have students in grades 4, 7, and 10 will be asked to fill out the survey (unless the school has fewer than 120 students in grades 4-12 in which case the survey will be expanded to include all parents and guardians).
Mailing of parent surveys is expected to begin the week of February 14, 2022. Parents are invited to complete the survey online using the Random Access Code included in the survey package.
Parents still have the option of completing the AEA survey on paper. Requests for the paper survey can be directed to System Assurance, please contact your school for assistance.
The deadline for survey completion has been extended to April 1, 2022.
Teacher Surveys
Certificated teaching staff will complete the survey online using the link provided by their school.
The Alberta Education Assurance Survey is an important way for parents to offer their voice to the education planning process. We value this input and thank all parents for their participation.
