Slam! Depression

To finish off our RAK week, we have one more slam poem to share with you, with permission, from Taylor Ford and Zander Warner. It was a great random acts of kindness week in the Realm and we are so proud of how our Crusaders got involved. Check the slideshow on our home page out for some of the great things that happened this week!
Depression, Is A War
by Taylor Ford and Zander Warner
Depression, is a war.
A battle against yourself.
Every thought, is like a bullet.
Every word like a stab in the heart.
Every movement, a punch.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a true thief.
It steels everything that you once had.
The things it left
Those. Those are the things that keep your trapped.
Trapped inside your mind.
Replaying its thoughts about you as you sit and watch.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a murderer.
It killed the girl I used to be, in cold blood.
I look in the mirror
*pause”
And all I see, is this thing.
I don’t recognize it.
In fact the sight of it sickens me.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a zombie.
You are alive, but you’re dead.
Unaware what’s happening.
You are, the walking dead.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a nightmare.
You wake up in a hell,
You are afraid of living.
Everything, seems impossible to bear.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is an ocean,
You are drowning everyday,
However, you are never saved.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a bottomless pit.
Never ending pain.
Never ending struggles.
There is no ending.
There’s no light, no escape.
Just pain.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a war.
A constant battle with yourself.
I think I might surrender, for I have had enough.
*inhale, exhale*
Depression, is a war.
You either win, or you die trying.
And I am afraid to say that I’m losing.
I, am losing.
Both of them!
