Happy New Year to all our Crusader Families!

It is hard to believe that we have left 2011 behind and are nearing the middle of January!  Diploma exams have begun and we are gearing up to end our first semester and begin our second semester!  Here are a few reminders:

You can check you child’s marks online at sas.sperd.ca .  If you need your username and password, just give us a quick call and we will email it to you!  Report cards will be sent out on February 3rd.  There will be no family/teacher interviews; however, feel free to book an appointment to speak to any of our teachers at a time convenient for both of you.  Our phone number is 780 724 3966.

All students can log into our exambank account by going to our website then to the OTHER LINKS tab.  Click on the exambank hyperlink and type in our username and password (fgmiller  password:  crusader) to take practice exams for all levels from grade 7 through 12!  Grade 12 students—here is your opportunity to get more practice in before Part B of your English and Social Studies diplomas.  Exambank is great to use throughout the entire year.  Tests are available for all curriculums and topics from grade 7 through 12, so it is a great way to get some extra practice before unit exams in all core subjects.  A+ Quest is another linked site on our website for PAT and DIPLOMA exams.

Our second AR Report period ends on January 20 at 3:30 p.m.  That means just one more week to quiz and reach your goal.  R.E.A.D. O. is back for the 3rd semester.  Each 85%, 90%, 95% or 100% (mark any box when you get 100%) you receive gets you closer to the prizes at the one line, two line, letter “X”, border and blackout levels.  Remember your book must be within your zone to qualify for the R.E.A.D. O.  Also keep your eye on the display case.  Our year end prizes can be purchased with your AR BUCKS (points) at the end of the school year...I hear there may be DRAGONS!

Get House points by doing the following in January:

SCHOOL Colour Day—Jan. 13 wear burgundy, gold or grey to get your house point.

HOUSE Colour Day—Jan. 20 wear your house colour (silver, blue, green or red) to get your house point.

National BELLY LAUGH and CHOCOLATE Day—January 25 - double header!  Print or write out a joke (make it clean and sweet—it can even be a short cartoon) for the library window (you must put it in the window by your house banner) and receive a chocolate from Mrs. Bjorkman!

ANTI-BULLYing Day—Jan. 27 wear pink and think “bully no more”!

Jan. 20 - 9 a.m. Social 30-1,  Social 30-2 Part B

Jan. 25 - 9 a.m. Pure Math 30 and Applied Math 30

Jan. 26 -  9 a.m.  English 20-1, English 20-2

12:30 p.m.  Biology 20

Jan. 27 - 9 a.m. Social 10-1, Social 10-2, Math 20-1, Math 20-2

12:30 p.m.  Science 10

Junior High classes continue as normal during our senior exams.

Last day of classes for grade 10 is January 25th.

Last day of classes for grade 11 is January 26th.

All senior high students should continue to attend classes up to and including the final day. This is a great opportunity to review for your upcoming finals.

A reminder that all first semester textbooks need to be returned before your final exam and returned no later than January 27.  Please drop your textbooks off at our library.  Students will be receiving a list of their currently loaned textbooks in the coming days.

Grad casual and formal pictures will be taken in our library on January 26 and 27.  See Mrs. Lindquist to book your time.
